Shipping policy
At Sports Direct, we aim to get your sports gear, apparel, and lifestyle products to you as quickly and affordably as possible. Whether you’re ordering online for home delivery or using our Click & Collect service, our shipping options are designed to fit your schedule and budget. Below, you’ll find all the details on delivery costs, timelines, coverage, and how to track your order.
1. Shipping Options & Costs
We offer two main home delivery options for UK addresses, plus a free Click & Collect service – all tailored to meet your needs:
1.1 Standard Delivery
- Cost: £4.90 per order (regardless of the number of items or order value).
- Delivery Timeline: 3–5 working days (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays). For remote areas (e.g., Scottish Highlands, Isle of Man, Channel Islands), delivery may take an extra 1–2 working days.
- What’s Included: Fully tracked delivery to your specified residential or business address. You’ll receive updates via email/SMS once your order is dispatched, including a link to monitor its progress.
- Note: Standard Delivery is not available for oversized items (e.g., large fitness equipment like treadmills, bulk orders of teamwear) – see Section 3 for details on oversized shipping.
1.2 Priority Delivery
- Cost: £6.90 per order (again, no extra charges for multiple items or higher order values).
- Delivery Timeline: Next working day delivery, provided you place your order before 11:59 AM (Monday to Thursday). Orders placed after 11:59 AM on Thursday, or over the weekend (Friday–Sunday), will be delivered on the following Tuesday (excluding bank holidays).
- What’s Included: Express tracked delivery with a 1-hour delivery window (sent via SMS/email on the morning of delivery). A signature is required upon receipt to ensure your order is safely handed over.
- Coverage: Available to most UK mainland addresses. Remote areas (e.g., Orkney, Shetland, Isle of Wight) may take 2 working days for Priority Delivery – we’ll notify you of this during checkout.
2. Shipping Coverage
2.1 UK Addresses
We deliver to all UK mainland addresses, plus the following regions (with slight adjustments to timelines and costs where noted):
- Scottish Highlands & Islands: Standard Delivery (3–7 working days, £4.90); Priority Delivery (2–3 working days, £6.90).
- Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey): Standard Delivery only (5–7 working days, £6.90 – additional customs fees may apply, which are your responsibility).
- Isle of Man, Isle of Wight: Standard Delivery (4–6 working days, £4.90); Priority Delivery (2–3 working days, £6.90).
2.2 International Shipping
Currently, we do not offer direct international shipping to countries outside the UK. If you’re based overseas and wish to order from Sports Direct, we recommend using a trusted parcel forwarding service – please note that we cannot take responsibility for orders once they leave the UK.
3. Oversized & Special Items
Certain products require special handling due to their size or weight. For these items, separate shipping rules apply:
- Examples: Treadmills, exercise bikes, bulk teamwear orders (20+ items), large camping equipment.
- Shipping Cost: £19.90 for UK mainland delivery (standard timeline: 5–7 working days). Priority Delivery is not available for oversized items.
- Notification: During checkout, if your order includes an oversized item, we’ll clearly display the additional shipping cost and adjusted delivery timeline before you complete payment.
- Delivery Requirements: Oversized items are delivered to your doorstep (not inside your home) – you may need assistance to unload them, as our couriers cannot carry items up stairs or into properties.
4. Order Tracking
All home deliveries (Standard and Priority) include full tracking:
- Once your order is dispatched, we’ll send you an email with a unique tracking number and a link to our courier’s tracking page (typically DPD or Yodel).
- Click the link, enter your tracking number, and you’ll see real-time updates on your order’s location, estimated delivery time, and delivery status (e.g., “In Transit”, “Out for Delivery”, “Delivered”).
- For Click & Collect orders, you’ll receive an email when your order is ready for collection – no tracking is needed beyond this confirmation.
5. Missing, Delayed, or Damaged Orders
5.1 Delayed Orders
If your order doesn’t arrive within the estimated timeline:
- Check your tracking page first – delays may occur due to bank holidays, adverse weather, or high order volumes (we’ll note these on our website homepage during peak times).
- If there’s no update on tracking after the estimated delivery date, contact our customer service team with your order number (see Section 6).
5.2 Missing Orders
If your tracking shows “Delivered” but you haven’t received your order:
- Check safe places around your property (e.g., porch, garage, with a neighbour) – our couriers often leave items in secure spots if you’re not home.
- Contact our courier directly via the tracking link – they’ll have details of where the item was left.
- If the item is still unaccounted for, notify us within 48 hours of the “Delivered” status – we’ll investigate and arrange a replacement or full refund if necessary.
5.3 Damaged Items
If your order arrives damaged:
- Take photos of the damaged item and its packaging.
- Contact us within 24 hours of delivery, providing your order number and the photos.
- We’ll arrange a free return for the damaged item and send a replacement (if in stock) or issue a full refund – including your original shipping cost.
